JUNE 2003

28th June 2003 - PRESIDENTS DAY WAS A SCORCHER!!

The 2003 Presidents Day match for John Hudgell turned out to be a very hot day - both bowling wise and the weather. With guest teams from Summertown, Morris Motors, Headington, City & County, plus a special appearance by the Blackbird Leys ex youth players (also known as the Dream Team). Overall the President's team came out on top 145 to 102. After the game entertainment was laid on to dance (and drink) the night away.

19th June 2003 - MENS TEAM BACK TO WINNING WAYS

After losing their opening 3 games in division 2, the mens team are back to winning ways with 5 - 1 victories away to Witney Mills and home to Banbury Chestnuts. After winning the division 3 title last year, Blackbird Leys are keen to improve further by ensuring division 2 status - and even perhaps gaining promotion to division 1.

The first two league games for the ladies has seen defeats to both South Oxford and Headington, by the same score of 2 points to 7. Ironically this mirrors the start made by the men's team in the early stages of their league campaign.
