BACKGROUND INFORMATION |
| The Blackbird Leys Pairs Classic is still a relatively
young Competition (when compared against the likes of Preston Cup etc.),
but still it has managed to establish itself the No.1 Mens Pairs Open
Competition
in the area. It was originally created because a Mens Pairs competition
did not exist in Oxfordshire, and Bowls as a whole was on a high in terms
of interest and number of members. As a result the competition was greatly
received.
The First competition was held in 1989, with B. Allin and J. Mackie the first winners of the competition. Since then the competition has been won by Members of several clubs, including Blackbird Leys twice! Click HERE to see the previous winners.
