MAIDENS CUP

Before the Oxford Ladies League existed, the Maidens Cup was the only competitive ladies club games played by Blackbird Leys. Unfortunately though, Osberton have withdrawn from the Maidens Cup in 2003, leaving the competition unable to continue. Blackbird Leys, having won the competition in 2002, will retain the title until such a time it is restarted.

SOME MAIDENS CUP HISTORY
The Maidens Cup had been contested by three local clubs for over a decade. The three original clubs were: Blackbird Leys, Osberton & Florence Park, however in the early nineties Florence park withdrew from the competition - and Morris Motors Bowls Club took their place.

The games were played once at each of the three clubs greens, with each side fielding two rinks. The points are scored as such: 2 points per winning rink & 1 point for the draw.

In 2002, the games and results for Blackbird Leys were as follows:

Osberton 12/06/2002 4 points
Morris Motors 03/07/2002 0 points
